I am 58 years old and had been wearing glasses or contacts since I was seven….I was fine with the contacts until about 2 years ago when I started having problems with dryness and not being able to see clearly. I had been using one contact for up close and one for far away for about 15 years, so I never had to worry about glasses – just the contacts.

After Dr. Willson, my eye doctor, tried everything to help my situation, he highly recommended that I go for a consultation with Dr. DenBeste. It was the best decision I could have ever made. With a lot of precise measuring and analyzing, Dr. DenBeste felt like he could help my situation. He took so much time checking, rechecking, and looking at my individual situation that I felt very confident going into the surgery. With his preciseness and care during the surgery, he helped me to feel relaxed and assured.

Today I am so pleased and excited! I don’t have to worry about solutions, losing my contacts, getting something under the contact, etc. But the best thing is I can see clearly! I have the freedom to go to sleep while watching TV and not having to worry about taking out my contacts. I don’t have to grab those glasses when I get up in the mornings. (It took me a while to get used to that!) I can go swimming and snorkeling with now worries about losing a contact or not being able to see! There really is a freedom in being able to see!

I opted to have one eye corrected for reading and one for distance. Since I had been seeing like that with my contacts, it wasn’t a problem getting used to it at all. Here I am at 58 seeing like I did when I was 6! What an amazing miracle!

"I was born with Astigmatism and started wearing glasses in eigth grade, forty years ago. This past summer, while at the beach, I was telling friends that I was waiting for the latest developments to occur in Lasik technology before I had my eyes done. Their response was classic... "You're 53!  What's the point in waiting any longer?" That very day I made the decision to have Lasik surgery and there was no question about who would be the doctor. It would be Dr. Brian Den Beste. Several years prior, my wife was Christmas shopping and, in a freak accident, sliced her eye on a metal artificial tree. Through a doctor friend, we were directed to Dr. Brian Den Beste who subsequently saved my wife's eye. She experienced a complete recovery and today you'd never know that it ever happened. Anyway, I figured that if I'm going to have Lasik then why not go to the "tried and true best doc" and so I did.

The entire "Lasik Pro" process was a very pleasant, gentle, educational, thorough, and carefully handled experience. On my first visit, Dr. Den Beste determined that my eyes were compatible with the Lasik procedure, performing all the necessary tests and measurements . He educated my wife and I on the new Custom Lasik procedure that is very safe and twenty times more effective than traditional Lasik. He explained all the safety precautions and redundancies that occur in preparing for and performing the surgery. On my next visit, final preparations were made and Dr. Den Beste talked to us about every little thing that would occur the day of the surgery. What he said would be done is exactly the way it happened.

All in all, the procedure took less than half an hour. I experienced virtually zero pain and only a little discomfort, basically what it feels like to have a spec in your eye, and just during the evening of the surgery. The next morning I woke up and was seeing everything like a hawk. Television, people's faces, the hands on the clock, the guages on the car were all crystal clear. At my 7:30am post-op check at Dr. Den Beste's office I then tested 20:20 and got half the characters right on the 20:15 line. Ten days later I was testing at 20:15 or better than "perfect vision". I had no pain, only a slight degree of eye dryness (which went away later) and some minor halows from headlights at night (which also went away a couple weeks later).

Today, only a couple months after the surgery, I am seeing perfectly and with absolutely no ill affects. At fifty three, I still need reading glasses but only just barely. I highly recommend Custom Lasik surgery by Dr. Brian Den Beste at "Lasik Pro" to everyone who needs it. I can not even begin to tell you how happy and satisfied with the surgery and excellent service you provided for me. I have been a glasses wearer most of my life and they have always gotten in my way whether it was sports, the military and even in my social life.

Currently, I work in the Information Technology field which sometimes requires me to go in and out of environment controlled computer/telephone rooms where the air conditioning makes the room colder than normal. Well, going in and out to get tools and equipment I need becomes a burden when your glasses keep fogging up.

As for sports, I no longer have to hurry up and put contact lenses on or worry about solution for them or even worse wear the sport goggles that make me look silly.

Finally as far as my social life, I just feel so much better. Many friends and acquaintances have told me I look a lot better without glasses and not having them makes me feel a lot more confident about my appearance. Let's be honest, everyone feels better about themselves when they feel confident in their appearance.

The best part of all was the fact that you and your staff made me feel very comfortable. I have had friends that have told me that they have gone to other places and they had very little interaction with the surgeon until the actual procedure. In my case though we spoke at length during the entire procedure. From the first day we met when you gave me an exam for my candidacy all the way through my surgery. I felt very comfortable with the way you treated me and that made the entire experience very relaxing and easy. I have already recommended you to several friends and again THANK YOU very much.
